Organization: Fountainhead Gallery
Location: Queen Anne, Seattle, WA (on-site; occasional evening/weekend events)
Schedule: 10–15 hours/week, 1 Quarter

Summary
The Art Gallery Intern supports daily gallery operations, contributes to installation of exhibitions, supports staff during concerts, and assists in social media and communications tasks. This role is ideal for students or emerging professionals interested in arts administration, curation, and visitor engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with exhibition installation, artwork handling, condition checks, basic labeling, and inventory updates (training provided).
- Photograph events and other opportunities to use in organization’s promotional materials and social media
- Collaborate with the staff with pitching, organizing, creating, and posting content on social media, Mailchimp, and blog platforms
- Support daily gallery operations while maintaining a professional, welcoming visitor experience.
- Engage with visitors by answering questions, providing exhibition information, and fostering an inclusive environment.
- Maintain the upkeep and cleanliness of galleries and front-of-house areas.
- Supports staff during the gallery openings and concerts
- Help with set up and working of our monthly music events
Qualifications
- Current student or recent graduate in Art/Art History, Museum Studies, Arts Administration, Design, Communications, or related field.
- Strong writing and organizational skills; comfort interacting with the public.
- Reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. and stand for extended periods during installs/events(reasonable accommodations available).
- Experience in photography (desired but not necessary)
- Familiarity with social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.
Learning Outcomes
- Hands-on experience with gallery operations, exhibition workflows, and basic registrarial practices.
- Experience in arts communications and audience engagement.
Schedule / Timetable
- Term: 10–14 weeks (flexible start), with potential to extend.
- Hours: 8–12 per week; some evenings/weekends for openings and programs.
- Start/end dates may be adjusted to accommodate academic schedules.
- The weekly schedule can be flexible, depending on the intern’s other commitments but must be available on concert days and gallery openings.
- Compensation: Volunteer or academic credit (unpaid; coordinate with your institution if seeking credit).
Work Conditions
- Stationary Work: About 80% at a desk, 20% moving within galleries or program spaces. Extended standing may be required at events.
- Moving: Ability to move up to 20 lbs. occasionally.
- Office Work: Regular use of computers, phones, and office equipment.
