Galaxy Kitchen – Kitchen Support

Where: Galaxy Building, 635 Elliott Ave W, Seattle, WA 98119

Description: For 30 years, FareStart has been providing meals to our community to offset food insecurity and relieve hunger. Volunteers help with a variety of tasks to help supplement a large amount of work that goes into creating between 1,000 – 2,000 meals each day. No kitchen experience is required! A great opportunity for hands-on volunteer work and team building. Food is provided!

Description: Provide wayfinding information and social support for oncology patients and families at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. Patient & Family Ambassador Volunteers work in the Main Lobby on the first floor of the clinic in both G and H buildings located on 825 Eastlake Avenue East.

Open Arms Perinatal Services

Description: Since 1997, Open Arms has provided community-based support during pregnancy, birth, and early parenting to nurture strong foundations to last a lifetime. Through doula care, childbirth education, lactation, and new parent support, we help birthing families achieve important milestones, strengthen parent-baby bonding, and boost long-term parenting skills.

Food Bank Loader/Helper – Help ensure food reaches vulnerable community members

Description: The ACRS Food Bank is open to the public and operates out of our Chinatown location. Packages of food are being prepped for the week and loaded into trucks for delivery. In-person distribution is safely being implemented on Fridays. Help the most revised food bank in King County service culturally familiar food to those in need.

Meal Team Volunteer with Teen Feed

Where: Multiple Locations

Description: Provide dinner for homeless youth! Meal teams consist of five-15 people aged 15 years and older, who provide and serve a hot, nutritious meals to youth at the Teen Meal Program. Meal Team Members provide food, prepare, and serve the meals, and clean the kitchen. Teen Feed serves 70 youth each night, and an average meal costs under $200.

ScribeAmerica

Description: Scribes with ScribeAmerica have the opportunity to:

  • Provide real-time charting for physicians and show them through their shift
  • Document the patient history, chief complaint, physical exam & procedures
  • Prepare plans for follow-up care
  • Assist with other clerical duties and non-clinical tasks for the provider

* Hours must be in an underserved/rural setting

Homeless Outreach Volunteers Needed

Description: “Once a month, and twice a month in the winter, we travel to wherever people are staying and provide food, hot beverages, warm clothing, bus tickets, basic first-aid, survival needs, and information on services. We also provide food and basic veterinary care for our client’s pets where possible. We think of ourselves as somewhat of a delivery service for our clients”.

Your time volunteering would be spent preparing food and supplies, loading vehicles, and driving/hiking the supplies directly to where clients are living.

FoodLifeline

Description: dedicated to ending hunger in Western Washington. Last year, they distributed more than 35 million pounds of food. Individual volunteer opportunities include administrative work, picking up food donations, sorting and packing food, and assisting with events. Group volunteer sessions are also available.

Description: Lifelong assists individuals living with or at risk of HIV and other chronic illnesses through an array of services. Join them to support the community by volunteering as a kitchen helper, delivering meals, organizing food donations, distributing food to clients, or helping at special events.

Full Life

Description: Full Life is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for frail elders and people with chronic or terminal illnesses and disabilities. They are looking for volunteers who can entertain the elderly through music, bringing in therapy pets, and more. You can also join their ElderFriends program to participate in regular one-on-one visits with isolated adults.

Crisis volunteering for LGBTQ 

Description: The Trevor Project runs 24/7 crisis services for LGBTQ young people. This means that volunteer shifts happen all day and all night. We are currently looking for volunteers who are available during specific times of day when we need the most support in responding to young people who reach out to us.

Inside Influence

Description: When incarcerated people transition from our institutions to Residential Reentry Centers (RRCs) or back home, they must readjust to life in their community and find employment. As a volunteer, you will play an important part in teaching them new skills, providing strong guidance, and promoting accountability to make their transition easier and to help them succeed.

Description: At Catholic Community Services, volunteers help elderly and disabled persons remain living independently in their own homes. They also serve food to the hungry, tutor youth struggling in school, assist the staff of CCS day care and early learning centers, and do much, much more!
