AMP Lab: Amplifying Movement & Performance

Research Logistics

In order to mobilize our interdisciplinary research teams, we have developed the following protocol for proposing projects and scheduling space and equipment use.

1) New Research Request

To propose a new project, please complete the Research & Grant Request Form. This form allows our team to evaluate the scope of a project, alignment with the AMP Lab Mission, and resource/personnel requirements.

Access the AMP Research & Grant Request Form:

2) Approval from AMP Core

Within two weeks of submitting your project request, AMP directors will review your application and notify you with follow-up questions and/or approval. Please e-mail your department’s AMP Co-Director with follow-up questions.

3) Schedule AMP Lab Space and Equipment Use

After receiving approval you will be added to the shared Google Calendar for the space you will be using for your experiments. Please make sure to follow the to schedule and reserve the space and equipment. Team leads will need to submit this form every quarter.

Guidance & Reminders for AMP Shared Calendars

One person from each project will been given calendar access to add/edit events

Please make sure you use the following guidelines:

  • Reach out to others as needed!
  • Leave time for set-up/clean-up – Leave the space spotless.
  • Always give an accurate title – This is critical for reporting and tracking. All calendar events should be labeled as:
    • (*/+) Last Name | (Depts) | Project Name | PI(s)
    • Last name: the person who will be leading the session and should be emailed with questions/conflicts
    • Depts: Use abbreviations and list all with backslash (ME/EE/Rehab/Ortho/Anthro)
    • Project Name: Use the exact short name on project list
    • PI: The primary PI from project list
  • (*)Always mark if an event is flexible – Human subject visits take first precedence, so if you are testing equipment, analyzing data, or performing non-essential tasks, always mark that your event is flexible with a * at the beginning of the name.
  • (+) Mark if it is OK if others are in the space at the same time – For example you are just working on equipment and don’t mind if others are in the space.
  • Do not edit others events – always email the contact person if you would like to request a change to an event.
  • Do not over-schedule – This is a shared space and flexible scheduling is critical for human subjects research.
  • Teams conducting grant funded research that supports the AMP Lab will receive priority, if necessary.

If you have questions or comments regarding these procedures, please e-mail amplify@uw.edu.
