Mario Côté

Mario Côté is a painter and video producer. His latest solo exhibition in the visual arts was held at Montréal's gallery Trois Points in 1997 and 1993, respectively Surface et intervalle and Une petite région. Last spring, his works were shown at two major Montréal events: Peinture/Peinture at the Belgo Building and Le Mensonge de la couleur at Montréal Télégraphe.

In 1997, he showed an installation version of the video Variations Vertov at a group exhibition De Fougue et de passion held by the Musée d'art contemporain. His video works have been featured at major national and international festivals: Variations Vertov (1996), 5 Tableaux 5 Paysages (1994), Tableaux 16 (1992) and 13 Tableaux 13 Portraits (1991) which won the first prize au 10e Rendez-vous du cinéma et de la vidéo québécois. Quatre chants pour le regard (1997) is his last work.

He has been the video columnist for the magazine Cinéma 24 images and a board member of the magazine ETC Montréal (1992-1996). He is currently teaches visual arts at the Université du Québec à Montréal.
