1999b

Cruise Description

The final leg of the final cruise was conducted on the Fraser River in British Columbia, Canada. Extremely high flow in this unregulated river characterized the trip. The Fraser River cruise was conducted as a comparison cruise, with one upstream, one downstream and two long series intended; the second long series was cut short. In addition, casts were conducted in a transect pattern, and sampling was also undertaken in the Pitt River.

Vessels

1999 was the final of 10 trips aboard the R/V Robert Gordon Sproul, a research vessel from Scripps Oceanographic Institute in San Diego, CA. Our sedimentological, geochemical, microbial and ecological investigations were based on the Sproul.

Geophysical investigations in 1999 were conducted from the R/V Clifford Barnes.
