Guiliang Zheng

Guiliang is currently a graduate student in the Mechanical Engineering Department. His research interests include data-driven safe control, machine learning, and applied optimal control theory, all within the context of autonomous vehicles and robots. His research focuses on extending inverse reinforcement learning or inverse optimal control to learn the safety constraints woven into human behavior models during human-robot interactions.

Guiliang has prior work experience as a mechanical design engineer at Cummins for two years, where he worked on integrating electrified powertrain systems into existing commercial trucks. He also worked at a commercial aerospace startup in China for a year as a structural design engineer. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, along with a minor in Electrical Engineering, from Purdue University in December 2019.
