Matthew Keene

Matt is an undergraduate student in the William E. Boeing Department Aeronautics & Astronautics Department. His research interests revolve around unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and improving their capabilities as well as efficiency. His research focuses on sensor integration for UAVs used for search and rescue missions.

Matt has prior experience serving in the US Navy on active duty. As an Electronics Technician, he led troubleshooting and maintenance efforts for Tactical Data Link (TADIL) communication systems onboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier out of Coronado, CA. His enlistment tour spanned six years and two overseas deployments. Prior to transferring to the UW, he completed his prerequisite studies at Green River College. A lifelong Washingtonian, Matt takes any excuse to explore new parts of the state and region, and enjoys hiking, camping, mountain biking and fishing as a means for doing so.
