With over half the world population living in cities, new approaches to bringing vegetation and the many benefits of plants to urban areas are being developed. Green screens are a type of green wall system emerging as a viable green infrastructure technology. They not only have significant public benefits but also have a great deal of design flexibility that can be applied as a freestanding design feature, affixed to a building envelope, or integrated into an entire building site design. Although green walls have a long history, green screen technology innovations are relatively recent and so the potential of green screens is still being developed.
