Case studies

Environmental Protection Agency
The EPA is studying urban stormwater discharge and developing guidelines that aid municipalities in achieving targeted performance standards. This study includes collecting field data on BMP's performance.

Clean Water Act
The Clean Water Act states that there must be research and investigations into BMPs performance and education, training and information available for businesses, industries, municipalities and the public.

The Environmental Technical Evaluation Center, Washington State Department of Transportation, and the University of Washington

In 1998, Evtec, WSDOT, & UW began working together to test and evaluate innovative technology for ultra-urban BMPs. Using a study area (Seattle's Eastlake neighborhood), a test facility was set up to evaluate the effects of pollution from 200,000 vehicles. This study is currently ongoing. No results have been published.

University of Virginia
A paper summarizing ultra-urban BMPs test results found by Yu et al., found on the Internet. The project took place to test different technologies at different locations from 1997-98 (Figures 6-8).
