Genus Miliolinella

 

Miliolinella Wiesner, 1931, emended Luczkowska, 1972

 

Description: Test with kryptoquinqueloculine juvenile sage in both microspheric and megalospheric generations but the three last chambers arranged in pseudotriloculine order, with one angle less than 90o; the swinging of coiling axis in the ontogeny is observed; test outline circular or broadly oval in cross section; 3 chambers visible externally; aperture semicircular or transversely enlarged nearly filled with a flap-like tooth.

Description by Cushman and Valentine, 1930: Test rounded, compressed, periphery rounded, the three chambers making up the visible proton of the test, rounded inflated; sutures distinct, depressed; last-formed chamber strongly embracing; wall smooth, polished; aperture a narrow, crescentiform slit with a large flattened semicircular tooth. Length, 0.40-0.75 mm; breadth, 0.32-0.50 mm; thickness, 0.25-0.40 mm.

Cushman and Valentine (1930) designated Triloculina circularis Bornemann as the type of Milionella californica.

 

Distribution In Puget Sound M. californica is rare and recorded in Sinclair Inlet and shallow localities in South Sound
