Global Cardiovascular Fellowship Health Metrics Track

UW Cardiology is committed to building the world’s best training program for cardiology fellows seeking careers in global cardiovascular health.

To expand opportunities in this field for UW Cardiology general fellows the formation of a Global and Health Metrics Scholar Track within the existing Cardiology Fellowship Research Scholar Pathway has been developed. This pathway is focused on fellows who envision an academic career in global health research.

Fellows in this track will declare interest in developing an academic career and meet all expectations of the Research Scholar Pathway, including identification of a mentor and a research plan that extends beyond a 3-year fellowship to include additional research training.

With the help of their mentor and the fellowship director, fellows in this track will identify a research site for their first research elective month. This site will be selected to help them achieve their research goal and may be inside or outside the U.S.

This track will allow fellows to consider a wide range of sites for their second-year research elective, including outside the US, in line with the UW Population Health Initiative goals of improving global health equity and health system capacity.

Diversity and Inclusion

The UW Cardiology Fellowship Program is committed to promoting an inclusive environment and to increasing recruitment and support of trainees from groups underrepresented in medicine.  We welcome and encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds, as this broadens and enriches the educational experience for all our faculty and trainees.
