9. Plotting Measurements

Example 1:

Today’s date is March 2, 2001.

You are measuring an infant who was born on October 15, 2000.

Set up the calculation. Subtract the birthdate from the date of the measurement. It may be necessary to convert months to days and years to months.

3. Convert year to months by subtracting 1 from the years.

1. Convert months to days by subtracting 1 from the number of months in the date of measure.

4. Add 12 to the number of months.

2. Add 30 days to the number of days in the date of the measure.

03 - 1 = 2 + 12 = 14
02 + 30 = 32
7. Subtract the birth year from the number of years. 6. Subtract the birth month from the number of months. 5. Subtract the day of the birth from the number of days.

14 -10 = 4
32 - 15 = 17
Current Age
0 years
4 months
17 days

The child’s age is 4 months, 17 days and is plotted as 4 1/2 months.
