Literally, "alla salute" translates to "to health." The phrase is meant to be used at the end of a toast, similar to when Americans say "cheers."

  Story

I learned this phrase at one of the Honors Rome Program's group dinners. Sabrina Tatta, our Italian language professor, taught the group the phrase "alla salute!" so that we would know the proper Italian way to say "cheers." This phrase is a great one to know when you are out with friends because it is fun to say! Alla salute!
