Connection to Research |
I was much more impressed by the Pantheon in person than I was by just doing research. I didn't realize how Catholocized it had become. I expected maybe a small altar and a little cross. Also, I expected Raphael's tomb to be bigger than it actually was.

Element of Interest |
The pantheon was much bigger than I had expected. While I knew that the overall place was 40 something by 40 something meters, I didn't really comprehend how big it would actually be. Also, I was amazed at the size of the opening in the top. From what I researched, I had expected it to be much smaller.

Questions |
My question was why didn't the church just knock down the pantheon and build a new cathedral.
I figure the answer is that it was just too cool to knock down. The place is awesome, and I can't imagine anyone would want to destroy it.
