Reason for Selection

Not only is it the one I frequent daily, but it is simply the best. In the morning there's an open air market with friendly faces and everything you could possibly want and all day it continues to bustle. Late at night, it transforms into a social mecca for young and old alike.

Comparison

The campo has more energy than any other piazza I've seen. This life is not only from tourists, like many others, but from locals as well. I've met many interesting personalities in the campo and there are always more to observe. The man who thinks he's a pigeon, for example, or the woman who dresses in a black cloak and yells out chants for all to hear, or even the magician who is louder and more obnoxious than any street performer anywhere. He often performs across the campo from the mime who, needless to say, makes up for the magician's lack of silence.

Oh, Campo, i'll miss you!

If I'll miss anything in Rome, it will be the daily market in the campo. There's nothing I love more than walking over every day to by my fruit, vegetables, fish, and bread. Safeway will no longer be as exciting as it once was.
