  Connection to Research

In doing my research I learned how much of the Colosseum was missing and therefore I knew what to expect in the sense of all the missing seats and the greenery that can be found inside. However, I did expect to see more stairs in use, instead of just the one, but it is understandable that others might be in such condition to be unuseable. After talking to a few other people I found out that many found the Colosseum to be a disappointment as far as the interior goes. And I'm thinking that this may be because for other the majority of their exposure to the Colosseum was movies that have given the interior a makeover for visual and plot purposes.

  Element of Interest

I really enjoyed the feeling of being in the Colosseum. I really felt small standing in there and it gave me a great sense of the size of the building. I just stood in one spot for over a half hour just looking around and soaking in the atmosphere. There weren't too many people around since it was near closing and it was nice and relaxing to be able to stand there and watch the sun cast different shadows around the building. This was something that doing research in book and online could not provide me with and so that is why I found it so interesting.

  Questions

What were some buildings that were built using pieces of the Colosseum?

I still do not know, I think Shawn mentioned one building that used pieces from the Colosseum, but I was not paying attention apparently because I can't remember. However, according to a tour guide in the Colosseum the reason that only half of the Colosseum has all four tiers is because after an earthquake one of the Popes used the materials of one side of the Colosseum to rebuild churches.

  Image Analysis

Colosseum

This image is a good representation of the state of the Colosseum on the inside; how it is missing a good deal of its internal structure. What this doesn't show is that there is still a basic structure left. Although there are no more seats in the Colosseum, you can still walk around most of the first and second tier.
