  Description

The atmosphere of O’Parrucchiano is a classic Sorrento garden restaurant. It seats 40-50 people in a semi-formal setting. Located in an alley, the inconspicuous entry is framed by lemon trees and gives little indication of the expansive restaurant that lies beyond. Once inside, seating is in the open beneath lemon trees or in an enclosed, glass greenhouse. My favorite table would be out in the open, with soft yellow fruits and leaves silhouetted by a starry sky and scented by jasmine blossoms. Although I have only visited this restaurant once in the evening, I think that it must be the best time of the day to enjoy a relaxing meal because it was such a wonderful experience.

  Menu

My dinner was comprised of Tagliolini con tonno (flat, thin strips of pasta in a tomato-based sauce with fresh tuna and basil), calamari, battered squash blossoms, antipasti favorite and a dessert of fresh fruit (peaches, champagne pears, pineapple, cassava melon, Italian plum and watermelon).

  Review

The waiter was very commanding. Since he wanted to promote products from the Sorrento area, he was adamant that any wine ordered should come from the immediate region. However, his recommendations were not without merit, and resulted in a delicious meal. The most memorable dish that I tried was the battered squash blossoms because of their delicate flavor that was enhanced by the herbed ricotta cheese stuffing. A close second was the excellent selection of fruit served for dessert. They all were fresh, colorful and flavorfully sweet. There were no items that I would not recommend.
