The University Of Washington Department Of Neurology’s annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) course will be held at the University of Washington South Lake Union campus in Seattle, Washington, on Friday, May 29, 2020.
Lectures will cover cutting edge innovations in various Neurology subspecialties attracting an audience of neurologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and others involved in neurological care and treatment.

Keynote Speaker
Jerome Engel, Jr., MD, PhD, is Director of the Seizure Disorder Center, The Jonathan Sinay Distinguished Professor of Neurology, Neurobiology, and Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences, and a member of the Brain Research Institute at UCLA. He received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University, his advanced degrees from Stanford University, and completed his training in neurology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Engel is past president of the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society , the American Epilepsy Society , and the International League against Epilepsy, and is past co-chair of the Global Campaign against Epilepsy. His bibliography lists over 1,000 publications and over 30 books, including Epilepsy: A Comprehensive Textbook, Surgical Treatment of the Epilepsies, The Treatment of Epilepsy, and Seizures and Epilepsy. He is principal investigator on three research grants from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, and has received numerous awards and honors, including a Fulbright Scholarship, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Javits Award, and the Life-Time Achievement Award from the International League against Epilepsy.

Intended Audience
Neurology Day 2020 seeks to fulfill the educational needs of healthcare professionals who manage patients with neurologic diseases and disorders. The activity is designed for neurologists, nurse practitioners, and physicians assistants. Other medical disciplines are also welcome to attend.
Course Description
The Neurology Day course will address identified clinical challenges in a wide array of areas to include stroke, neuromuscular, sleep medicine, multiple sclerosis, neuro-oncology,pediatric headache, movement disorders, and epilepsy. Through cutting-edge content delivered by expert faculty, practitioners will review the latest advances and best practices in the rapidly evolving field of neuroscience. Emphasis will be placed on information required to evaluate novel screening, diagnostic strategies and available therapeutic options to arrive at the most effective approach for treatment and/or referral of patients. Lectures with question and answer sessions, and panel discussions will afford learners the opportunity to examine practice dilemmas, discuss available evidence and apply effective case management.
Activity Objectives
Upon completion of this activity attendees should:
- Acquire an enhanced and updated knowledge of various topics and practices in clinical neurology as provided by subspecialty experts.
- This updated knowledge will help providers properly diagnose, treat and improve the care of their patients with neurological diseases.
- Discuss current clinical and research advances in the neurosciences

The University of Washington School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
