Opening Otobase

. In Otobase, a functional database is comprised of two components, the structure file and the data file. The structure file stores information about the organization of the database. The data file stores the specific information you have entered into the database. The data file and structure file work in conjunction.

Note: If you are using a Windows operating system, the components are actually a collection of files. For a list of these files, see Appendix A, "Installation Files," in the Otobase User Guide.

To start Otobase

To launch Otobase, find and click on the program icon.

For Macintosh users, the icon will display on your desktop.
For Windows users, the icon appears on the Start menu.

When starting Otobase for the first time, several events occur:

The program may build some internal resources. This will only take a few seconds.
Otobase asks for a user name and password.
