Neighborcare Health is the largest provider of primary medical and dental care in Seattle for low income and uninsured families and individuals, serving our community for more than 40 years. Our mission is to provide comprehensive health care to families and individuals who have difficulty accessing care, respond with sensitivity to the needs of our culturally diverse patients, and advocate and work with others to improve the overall health status of the communities we serve.
As a Community Outreach Volunteer, you will assist in connecting, educating, and informing local community members about Neighborcare Healthʼs services as well as be the bridge between communities and the organization. The Rainier Beach Medical & Dental Clinic Community Outreach Volunteer will mainly be providing dental health presentations and tabling at various schools, community organizations, and fairs in South Seattle.
POSITION: Community Outreach Volunteer
LOCATION: Rainier Beach Medical & Dental Clinic (9245 Rainier Ave S, Seattle, WA 98118)
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
· Interested in community health and working with underserved populations
· Interested in connecting community members to Neighborcare Health’s services through health presentations and tabling at different events
· Outgoing personality and the ability to work with diverse populations
· Has experience in public speaking or delivering presentations
· Has access to reliable transportation and willing to travel to different locations for presentations and tabling events
· Hours and days will vary depending on volunteerʼs schedule
· Minimum of 6 month commitment or 100 hours of service
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
· Organize presentations and events to inform local communities about Neighborcare Healthʼs services
· Educate community members in preventive care through health presentations
· Develop effective partnerships with community residents and organizations
· Connect patients with Neighborcare staff to set-up appointments
