Operation Smile Officer Applications!!

Are you interested in helping children with cleft palates? Are you looking for a leadership opportunity for the 2011-12 school year?

Every three minutes, a child is born with a cleft condition, and >200,000 children are born with a severe cleft condition each year — often unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile. In some places these children are shunned and rejected. And in too many cases, their parents can’t afford to give them the surgeries they need to live a normal life. Since 1982, Operation Smile — through the help of dedicated medical volunteers and student organizations — has provided the funding for free surgeries to children around the world. With a presence in over 50 countries, Operation Smile is able to heal children’s smiles, bringing hope for a better future.

Operation Smile UW Chapter is a student-run organization in partnership with the national organization. Together, we raise awareness, supplies, and funds in order to help provide free reconstructive surgeries to children with cleft palates. Our most recent fundraiser, UW’s Got Talent, raised enough money to provide three children with new smiles!

We are looking for motivated leaders for our club next year who are sincerely interested in helping to make a difference in a child’s life. Anyone is welcome to apply!

Please see the attached for instructions and the application. Applications are due Sunday, April 24th, 2011 at 10:00PM. Email jbdg@uw.edu if you have any questions!

Thanks! Operation Smile UW
