5-Day Summer Program for Pharmacy, Osteopathic Medicine, Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, Public Health, Clinical Research and Pharmaceutical Sciences Students

The deadline for the Campbell University Health Professions Readiness and Enrichment Program (H-PREP) is approaching fast – April 1, 2013! http://www.campbell.edu/cphs/centers-and-programs/prep/ The program includes everything except airfare. The H-PREP five-day program is offered May 14-18, 2013 at Campbell University and is designed to prepare highly-qualified, underrepresented, or financially disadvantaged students in the field of health science for admission into health professions programs. This curriculum provides excellent educational opportunities for students interested in potential careers in pharmacy, medicine, physician assistant, physical therapy, pharmaceutical sciences, clinical research and public health. The main focus of this program is to educate individuals on career options, standardized test taking strategies, interviewing and application skills as well as overall professionalism. Components H-PREP prepares students for the rigorous professional program admissions process by offering the following: * Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) and Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) preparation (Sponsored by Kaplan) * Exposure to professionals in various fields of pharmacy, physical therapy, medicine, public health, clinical research, and pharmaceutical sciences * Professional Development, Learning Styles, Goal Setting, Cultural Competency, Interviewing, and Competitive Applicant Seminars * Mentoring opportunities with CPHS and CUSOM faculty, staff and students * Better understanding of the need and benefits of well-rounded students and professionals * Exposure to potential shadowing opportunities * Experiencing and becoming part of the “Campbell Family” Requirements Students should meet the following application requirements: * Cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale * 30 semester hours of college level coursework completed with science background Candidates selected to participate may be required to pay a $100 fee to attend the Summer Capstone; however, last year many students fees were covered by scholarships. This fee will help cover: * PCAT/GRE/MCAT strategies (Sponsored by Kaplan) * Workshops, Guest Speakers and Seminars * Meals * Housing Scholarship Students selected to participate will have the opportunity to apply for various scholarships that will aid in paying the participation fee ($100). Last year over 50% of the accepted students’ fees were covered by scholarships. Further information on scholarships will be sent to students after they have been accepted into the Summer Capstone Program.
