[Uwhealthleaders] SAVE THE DATE: Student Health Week

During the week of APRIL 22-25th the ASUW Student Health Consortium presents: STUDENT HEALTH WEEK What is Student Health Week? Student Health Week is a week dedicated to highlighting the physical, mental and social aspects of health as defined by the World Health Organization. This year we hope to explore a more holistic variation of health topics with engaging speakers and interactive events. Is this the same thing as Women’s Health Week? This week was formally known as “Women’s Health Week” for the past two years. After much thought it was decided that the name would be changed to create a more inclusive event. By removing the word “women” we are able to present programming that is not bound by a binary gender system and can be useful for all students at our university. What does this week consist of? Monday- General Health –> UHELP will help us kick-off our week with their annual Big Tent Event and presenting us with an interactive overview of health topics specific to collegians. Tuesday- Mental Health –> We invite you to a brown-bag lunch program exploring “sleep” and questions such as; “what happens when I sleep?” and “how can I maximize sleep?”. Wednesday- Nutrition –> The 1st Annual UW Market will be the highlight of our nutrition focused day and will feature local, sustainable and organic foods/resources accessible to students. Thursday- Physical Health –> This day will give you an opportunity to give back to those in need Friday- Social Health –> Finally the SHC team is thrilled to present you with a special opportunity brought to you by the Seattle International Foundation and the City of Seattle to pair with their presentation on “Locally Working Globally”. Wish you had more information on the details of this week? You’ll have to stay tuned for more information coming your way in the following week! In the mean time we hope that this sparks some of your interest and we can’t wait to share all of the details with you soon! — Monica Ng ASUW | Student Health Consortium Director 2012-2013 Office Hours www.health.asuw.org Event Calendar
