MEDIC 4/15

Hello Everyone, On Monday, April 15th in Health Sciences T wing room 359 from 5 to 6:30, MEDIC will hold its next meeting. Ceri and Claire will be leading a discussion regarding various issues that arise during prenatal and postnatal care such as c-sections and genetic testing. How should we balance patient preference and medical indication when deciding on the method of delivery? Are physicians obligated to inform parents of any information they discover during prenatal screening? Would this change if full genetic sequencing became a routine procedure? For those of you that care about these sorts of things, Claire will be bringing brownies this week and if you want to prepare an answer, this week’s icebreaker will be as follows: “What is your favorite cheese-based snack?” Next week, we will be sending out applications for MEDIC officers for next year, so if you plan on applying, make sure to check your email and attend at least one meeting in order to be considered for one of the positions. Navigating the Health Sciences building can be tricky. Enter through the main T wing entrance, enter on the third floor, turn right, turn left at the first hallway on your left, and when that hallway tees, room 359 is just to your right. Bring your friends! If you have any questions, feel free to email us at medicuw@uw.edu and be sure to like us on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/medicuw for updates about MEDIC and bioethics in the media. Hope to see you Monday, Zach Simon, Ceri Weber, Michelle Drews, Vishu Anekonda and Claire Simon
