Free Chinese Comedy Show on this coming Friday Oct 3rd!

The Confucius Institute of Washington (CIWA) is honored to invite Jesse Appell, an American Chinese Comedian to give us a Chinese Comedy Culture Show on this Friday afternoon Oct 3rd. The show is one of the series activities organized by CIWA in celebration of 2014 Global Confucius Institute Day.

Jesse Appell is a Fulbright Scholar whose research mainly focuses on Chinese humor and performance of Xiangsheng (Cross-talk Comedy). He is also a disciple of Master Xiangsheng Ding Guangquan and regularly performs bilingual improve comedy and Chinese-language stand-up live and on TV all around China.

Jesse has been featured the CBS Nightly News with Jim Axelrod; his performances, writing, and commentary on Chinese comedy, media, and culture have been seen and heard on TEDx, PBS, BBC, PRI and The Economist, as well as Chinese media such as CCTV, BTV, and CRI. He was featured in the Global Times and listed as one of their “People of the Year” for 2012. Jesse founded www.laughbeijing.com with the focus of furthering comedic and cultural exchange between China and the West.
