AMSA has the following opportunities and events available to pre-health students. As a reminder, all AMSA programs and events are open to all pre-health students, medical students, and students in any health professions program, including both AMSA members and non-members.

1. AMSA Primary Care Interprofessional Leadership Institute (PCILI) at Ball State University, Muncie, IN (Sept 19-20)

Pre-health and health professions students are invited to join AMSA and the Northeast Indiana Area Health Education Center (NEI-AHEC) to participate in two days of learning that will answer questions such as: What are the many paths into primary care? What does primary care encompass?

Nursing, physician assistant, public health, psychology, pharmacy, social work, kinesiology, dietetics, dental, osteopathic and allopathic medical students are all encouraged to participate in this unique interprofessional learning environment.

  1. AMSA Scholars Programs and Leadership Courses

AMSA Scholars Programs and Leadership Courses are open to passionate individuals with different interests, experiences, and program knowledge. Students will participate in six-month, web-based learning courses structured around readings, moderated discussions, and webinar presentations led by field experts. Participants are required to complete a project as part of the program experience. The Scholars Programs and Leadership Courses will run October through March and are open to both medical and pre-health students. Choose from 13 programs:

Cultural Sensitivity Scholars Program

Global Health Scholars Program (in partnership with RESULTS.org)

Health Equity Scholars Program

Integrative Medicine Scholars Program

Just Medicine Scholars Program

Medical Humanities Scholars Program

Patient Safety Scholars Program

Premedical Scholars Program (in partnership with the BeyondFlexner.org)

Public Health Scholars Program

Health Care For All Scholars Program

Sexual Health Leadership Course (application process with limited participants)

Advocacy Leadership Course (application process with limited participants)
