HealthCorps Positions Available for 2011-2012 in Western Washington

at Sea Mar Community Health Centers!

Program Summary:

Nearly 20 AmeriCorps volunteers serve at Sea Mar Community Health Centers throughout Western Washington as well as serve in the International Community Health Services in Seattle.

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is a community-based organization committed to providing quality, comprehensive health and human services to diverse communities, specializing in service to Latinos. Sea Mar offers medical, dental, behavioral health, substance abuse treatment, nursing home services, a child development center, and farm worker housing.

The Sea Mar program began in 1995 and is an original HealthCorps site. The HealthCorps program’s foci are service and supported learning. AmeriCorps members provide service while enhancing skills, vision, and professionalism in one or two departments. Personal growth is also fostered through a highly supportive, challenging, and educational team environment.

Program dates: August 15 2011- July 15, 2012

Full time contract for 11 month period

Available Positions

Seattle – Health Education and Outreach (Bilingual Spanish/ English required)

Seattle – Doula (Bilingual Spanish / English required)

Tacoma (WA) Patient Navigator

Aberdeen (WA) Patient Navigator

Vancouver (WA) Patient Navigator (Bilingual Spanish/English required)

Benefits:

Valuable experience serving within a Community Health Center

Educational award of $5350

Living stipend of 800-850 a month

Health insurance

Members may also be eligible for: food stamps and childcare.

Preferred Bilingual in: Spanish. English only positions also available in Tacoma and Aberdeen.

Requirements: 18 years of age or older, U.S. citizen, fluent in English.
