The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is offers a comprehensive, structured re-application program designed to assist students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have been unsuccessful in gaining admission to any U.S medical school. RAP is an 11-month program that is conducted in two sessions. The Summer sessions begins June 18 to July 27th, 2018 and the Academic year session that runs from September 2018 through May 2019 for each cohort.
The Summer program begins with an intensive six-week summer session, focused upon prerequisite science review and on MCAT preparation. Distinguished guest lecturers will also provide seminars and workshops discussing; academic skills; extensive and lively reviews of biology, chemistry, and physics; self-development, time management; financial planning; medical school re-application, and interviewing skills. Current medical students and former RAP participants provide supporting mentoring and meetings to RAP students.
An individualized academic-year program that consists of a science curriculum will follow. Participants, in close consultation with program advisors, will select their courses through UCLA Extension or a local California State University. Medical school re-application preparation and strategies will be conducted individually. Mock interviews will be conducted and videotaped for participant evaluation and feedback. During the academic year segment, students will meet regularly with program advisors and mentors. Occasionally, the RAP program makes recommendations that will require more than the 11 months to strengthen the participant’s application to medical school. In such cases, we continue to monitor the progress of these candidates after the 11-month program to assure completion.

Student Eligibility
Students are eligible for UCLA RAP if they -meet all of the following prerequisites:
- Previously unsuccessful in gaining admission to any U.S medical school
- Be committed to practice in an underserved community
- Come from an educationally and/or economically disadvantaged background
- Undergraduate degree from an accredited U.S college or university
- Have a minimum science GPA of 2.7 or higher
- For students who took the MCAT 2012-2014 or later, have a minimum combined score of 20
- For students who took the MCAT 2015, have a minimum combined score of 491
- Submit three (3) Letters of Recommendation
- Applicants must be a legal resident of California or provide documentation of approved eligibility of approved eligibility for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) in the State of California.

For your application to be complete you must have submitted this online application (with all of the required entries filled in), and the following material must have been received by the UC Post-baccalaureate Consortium’s central office:
- Three letters of recommendation. One letter must be from a science instructor, one from a community service experience and the third can be from either a professor or employer of your choice. Re-applicants may use two of the letters of recommendations that were submitted for medical school, but the third must specifically address the applicant’s suitability for the post-baccalaureate program. All letters must be accompanied by a Statement of Confidentiality. If you have not completed a Statement of Confidentiality with your premedical committee or advisor, please use the Statement of Confidentiality PDF form provided. Statement of Confidentiality PDF form provided. As a general policy, applicants are advised to allow several weeks for delivery of letters of recommendation.
- Official transcripts for all college level work, including summer course work. Even if grades at one school are reported on the transcript of another school (as is sometimes done for summer courses), you must submit an official transcript from the school at which the courses were originally taken.
- Re-applicants (applicants who have already applied to medical schools in the U.S. and have not been accepted), in addition to submitting all required information in the online application, must submit a copy of their verified AMCAS application (a processed date must appear at the top of the form). A copy of the application can be obtained by printing it at the AMCAS site.
Letters of recommendation and transcripts should be sent directly from the source (recommender or transcript institution) to the UC Post-baccalaureate Consortium. AMCAS applications should be sent by the applicant to the UC Post-baccalaureate Consortium. The address for the Consortium is:

Fees
There is no tuition or enrollment fee for participation, however students are expected to meet the responsibility of their own living expenses for both sessions of the program, in addition to any tuition and/or fees for courses during the academic-year session. Participants may be eligible for a stipend depending on availability of funds.
