Pre-Health Service Learning Opportunity

Pre-Health/Pre-Dental Service Learning Opportunity — VIDA Volunteer

VIDA is a non-for profit organization based out of Central America with the long-term goal of educating future health professionals about global healthcare systems while providing basic medical and dental services to Central Americans.

The trip for the UW this year is scheduled for August 23rd – September 4th (after summer quarter) and is geared towards pre-medical, pre-nursing, pre-PA, and pre-dental students. Students will be working in mobile clinics set up in underprivileged areas of Nicaragua to offer medical and dental services to those who do not have access to these basic needs.

The medical team will be working side-by-side next to our local professionals who will teach you about tropical illnesses and local health care systems. The dental team will assist licensed dentists with cleanings, scaling, and prophylaxis with our bilingual staff members and give patient education about oral health. Both teams will participate in educating patients about preventative care and healthy lifestyles.

Interested applicants may either fill out the application link or send a letter of interest and resumé to nevinck@uw.edu.

Application deadline is April 25th. For more information, please feel free to reach out to nevinck@uw.edu or visit http://www.vidavolunteer.org/.
