Nutrient Needs During Pregancy Issues for Specific Groups |
Issues for Specific Groups Overweight The weight gain recommendations for mothers who are overweight before pregnancy may be lower than those for women with “normal” weights, depending on the degree of overweight. It is critical to ensure that the woman’s nutrient intake (especially vitamins and minerals) is adequate to support a healthy pregnancy. Specific recommendations for women who are overweight or obese are reviewed in Module 4, Medical Nutrition Therapy for Specific Conditions.
