Andrew Nuhaily received his B.S. in Chemistry from San Diego State University in 2016 after pivoting his career focus from biochemistry and biotechnology to physical/surface chemistry and materials research. As an undergraduate, he worked with Dr. David Pullman to study LSPR frequency variations due to changes in silver nanoparticle geometry and novel work with polydopamine nanoparticles.
After obtaining his bachelor’s, Andrew worked in the private sector at Imagion Biosystems, Inc. redesigning and engineering scaled-up synthetic systems to improve and increase the production output of highly monodisperse Fe3O4 nanoparticles for use as part of a medical device that detects the Néel relaxation response of particle-conjugated HER2-positive breast cancer in vivo.
Now working to obtain his M.S. under Dr. Peter Pauzauskie he is pursuing his research passions in synthesizing silver nanowires and superparamagnetic nanoparticles, studying optical responses and surface interactions of polydopamine nanospheres, and laser cooling.
