Real Change, Seattle, Washington, Advocacy and Organizing Program

Last January, 3,123 men, women and children were counted without basic shelter in King County, a 14% increase in unsheltered homelessness from 2013.

The OutsideIN campaign addresses this increase in unsheltered homelessness, and aims to reduce the 2015 one night count by 1,000 individuals. OutsideIN is the latest organizing campaign by Real Change, a Seattle organization that exists to provide opportunity and a voice for low-income and homeless people while taking action for economic justice. With input from homeless individuals, homeless advocates and community partners, Real Change is linking the issue of homelessness with the broader struggle for economic justice. OutsideIN brings visibility to the unacceptable levels of homelessness in Seattle, while also politicizing this issue as part of a larger conversation on root causes of poverty and inequality.
