Preparing for the STSS 10-Year Review: Making the Case for What Comes Next

Fall 2026 — The Science, Technology, and Society Studies (STSS) Graduate Certificate Program’s steering committee invites the interdisciplinary group, faculty network, current and former students, and interested faculty and staff to prepare for the 10-year review of the program with the UW Graduate School, which will include a self-study report, due Dec. 5, 2026, and a virtual site visit on Friday, March 5, 2027.

The review is an opportunity for the STSS community to come together to reflect on the graduate certificate program’s accomplishments, take stock of where we are today, and imagine what comes next.

Thus, in lieu of our regular First Monday STSS Reading Group, we’re hosting a meeting STSS at 10: Making the Case for What Comes Next to bring together the STSS community from across our disciplines and campuses for a conversation about the interdisciplinary certificate program’s past, present, and future.

  • What’s working well and what have we learned?
  • What has the STSS Graduate Certificate made possible for students, faculty, and their research?
  • How can we strengthen and expand the program in the years ahead?

Date: Monday, Nov. 2, 2026
Time: 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Location: Simpson Center, with a hybrid participation option.

Details and online access information will be shared closer to the event. Email mmjones@uw.edu or cecc@uw.edu for an invitation.
