6.) If there is concern for the abdominal compartment syndrome, what diagnostic step is needed?

Check for signs of abdominal compartment syndrome. Is the abdomen very distended and tight? Was the fascia closed at the time of first operation? If the patient is intubated, have they become more difficult to ventilate? Has the patient received large volumes of crystalloid since their resuscitation began? If so, check a bladder pressure and re-open the midline laparotomy incision if the pressure is >30 mmHg.
