THORACIC SURGERY
Case #3 -
A 62-year-old man complains of worsening cough since three months

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
2.) What are important aspects of the history that evaluate pulmonary reserve?

The history is the most important means for evaluating pulmonary function and reserve. The ability to walk on a flat surface indefinitely without dyspnea and to walk up 1-2 flights of stairs without need to rest because of dyspnea are indications that the patient will tolerate major resection.
