Imaging studies:

  1. CT scan with contrast of chest and upper abdomen to evaluate the primary lesion, local extension, mediastinal lymph nodes, liver, kidneys, and adrenals

  2. PET scan better for staging and for diagnosing hilar and mediastinal nodes
