A 34 year old shot in the L upper chest

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
4.) What is the definitive management of this chest injury?

Definitive management is placement of a tube thoracostomy in the 4th or 5th intercostal space in the anterior axillary line.



In this patient 300 cc of blood was evacuated immediately and over the next four hours a total of 1000 cc of blood drained and then reduced.
