COLORECTAL DISEASE
Case #1 -
A 50 year old with positive stool guaiac

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
10.) After surgery, what should be the follow up plan for this patient?

Colonoscopy should be performed one year after surgery, then three years later, and then every five years. These intervals are shortened if polpys are found and treated. The physical examination should be done every 3 months for the first two years, then every six months in the third year and then annually. At the time of each physical examination, the CBC and the carcinoembryonic antigen level should be checked.
