COLORECTAL DISEASE
Case #5 - A healthy 33 year old with rectal bleeding

CLINICAL CASE:
A 33 year old healthy woman is referred to you for evaluation of bright red rectal bleeding associated with bowel movements. This occurs primarily when straining is required for evacuation. She states that on occasion after straining hard, she feels tissue that usually reduces by itself after completion of the bowel movement. She states that the blood will drip into the toilet bowl, which turns red, and this is frightening.
