Diagnostic evaluation of a patient with suspected pancreatic carcinoma:
- Ultrasound examination: detect dilated bile ducts typical of obstructive jaundice
- CT scan: pancreatic mass and liver metastases
- Endoscopic ultrasound: evaluate the mass, assess for vascular invasion, detect enlarged nodes, possible biopsy or FNA of mass
- ERCP: evaluate ducts and place stent if necessary to alleviate jaundice
