PANCREAS
Case #5 -
A 45 year old with confusion and weight gain

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
7.) Is there any role for medical management and what can be done?

Medical management may be required in cases of unresectable metastatic disease. Frequent feedings supplemented with a slowly absorbed form of carbohydrate such as cornstarch may help. Drugs that may help include diazoxide, streptozocin, prednisone, calcium channel blockers, and octreotide. Response to any of these agents is limited.
