Case #5 - A 45 year old with confusion and weight gain

 
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
  1. Given a typical history, be able to recognize the presenting signs and symptoms of patients with insulinomas.
  2. Be able to discuss the diagnostic workup of insulinomas. Specifically, be able to state Whipple's triad.
  3. Be able to list the tumor characteristics of insulinomas.
  4. Be able to describe the surgical management of insulinomas.
  5. Be able to list other endocrine tumors of the pancreas and state the common characteristics of each.
