SURGICAL ONCOLOGY
Case #1 -
A 32 year old with a lesion on her lower R leg

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
6.) What is most important pathologically in the primary tumor? How can the depth of invasion be defined?

The most important feature pathologically is the depth of invasion. This can be determined histologically by layer of epidermis or dermis to which the tumor has penetrated (Clark's levels) or by measuring the thickness of the lesion (Breslow's modification).
