Hypercoagulable states predisposing to DVT:


  • Genetic: Factor V Leiden mutation, prothrombin G20210A mutation,
    hyperhomocysteinemia, antithrombin III deficiency, protein C deficiency, protein S deficiency

  • Acquired: cancer, myeloproliferative disorders, pregnancy, use of oral, contraceptives or hormone replacement therapy, antiphospholipid antibodies, mild to moderate hyperhomocysteinemia
