10.) What is the role of thrombolytic therapy?
|
Thrombolytic agents may have a role in patients thought to be at high risk for surgery, particularly if the degree of ischemia does not mandate immediate revascularization (no motor deficit). Thrombolytic agents are given intraarterially into the thrombus. Randomized clinical trials have failed to show a benefit in mortality or limb salvage with thrombolytic therapy over surgical revascularization.
