BURNS AND CRITICAL CARE
Case #2 -
A 21 year old with an electric shock

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
6.) What is a consequence of muscle cell damage? How can you know easily that it has occurred? What could result if this is not treated?

When muscle cell membranes are disrupted, the result is myoglobinuria. If the urine is bright red, myoglobinuria or hemoglobinuria is present. It is important to treat this to prevent acute renal failure.
