BURNS AND CRITICAL CARE  
Case #4 - A 28 year old with severe trauma

 
CLINICAL CASE:
A 28 year old bull rider is thrown from and trampled by a bull. In the resuscitation area he has a right tube thoracostomy placed. He is taken emergently to the OR for a positive FAST exam and hemodynamic instability where he undergoes a splenectomy and control of bleeding lacerations to segments 2 and 3 of his liver. He receives 12 liters of crystalloid and 9 units of packed RBCs. He is taken to the SICU postoperatively. He weighs 83 Kg.
