COLORECTAL DISEASE
Case #7 -
A 70 year old female with passing bright red blood per rectum

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
7.) What is the next step in identifying the source of bleeding?

The next step in diagnosing this patient is to do colonoscopy without preparation. This will give information about the pattern of bleeding, the amount, and location of blood in the bowel. Upper GI endoscopy should precede the colonoscopy if upper GI bleeding is suspected.
