DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
3.) How should you proceed with evaluation?

Evaluation:

a. Chest X-ray: air fluid level behind the heart

b. Barium swallow: see motility, tumor, achalasia, stricture, diaphragmatic hernia

c. Esophagogastroscopy: location of gastroesophageal junction, presence of tumor or stricture

d. Esophageal pH studies and manometry indicated in some patients
