Bio

Dr. Stein is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon and an Assistant Professor in the Division of Plastic Surgery at the UW School of Medicine.

Dr. Stein primarily focuses on oncologic reconstruction of the breast, trunk, and extremities including all types of skin cancer. By working closely with surgeons of other specialties, he strives to restore form and function to those patients who undergo surgery to remove cancer. He also performs body contouring surgery and aesthetic breast surgery. His approach to care is one of collaboration and partnership; he wants all patients to fully understand their options for care and helps guide them to a solution that most appropriately addresses their goals.

His goal is for every patient to feel comfortable in their own skin. It’s every person’s right to feel affirmed in their body and gender and for the world to respect their choices. He endeavors to truly listen and understand every patient’s desire and work by their side to achieve it. His most rewarding moment is when a patient returns to their life feeling both physically and emotionally whole.

Dr. Stein’s research interest centers around clinical outcomes of both reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery as well as systems quality improvement for the overall patient experience.

Dr. Stein fully enjoys everything the Pacific Northwest has to offer and is typically somewhere outside, skiing, mountaineering, backpacking, and generally exploring the lush forests and mountains of the Cascades, rain, or shine.
